Compass

The compass is set by the

manufacturer to ensure

its accuracy. If in doubt it

can be zeroed in by using a

nonmagnetic screwdriver to

turn the compensator screws

as recommended. Refer to the

compass manual in the owner’s

information pouch. Also, a

compass can be checked while

underway for variance and

deviation by comparing your heading with a nautical chart. Compass

error is part of the calculation.
